DECATUR — The power outage on Decatur's north side that left some 570 customers without power was caused by an equipment failure, Ameren Illinois said Wednesday.

The outage affected customers on Decatur's north side near West Pershing Road Wednesday afternoon.

The outage started at 1:12 p.m., and most customers had their power restored by 2:15 p.m., company spokeswoman Marcelyn Love said. The remaining 180 customers had their power restored around 3 p.m.

Some stores at the Brettwood Village shopping center, 3116 N. Water St., including Kroger, Catherines and Party Warehouse, were also affected by the outage.
