CLINTON — The DeWitt County Coroner's Office said Michael R. Dailey, 63, of Peoria, drowned in Clinton Lake on Thursday.

Preliminary results from an autopsy Friday indicated Dailey died as a result of drowning, according to DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice.

A 911 call was made to the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office about 11 a.m. Thursday. Dive teams from Hudson and Decatur responded, along with the sheriff's department and the fire departments from Clinton and Farmer City.

Dailey's body was found near the Mascoutin Boat Ramp and he was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., according to a news release.

Illinois State Conservation Police are continuing to investigate. Officials said no foul play is suspected.

A woman was in the boat at the time of the incident and was not injured, conservation police said Friday. Police initially reported a man had been in the boat.

The boat did not capsize, and Dailey was not wearing a life jacket, according to conservation police.

The weather at the time was cloudy with a 10 mph wind.
