DECATUR — Crews quickly brought a house fire under control Tuesday night, and no injuries were reported, the Decatur Fire Department said in a news release.

Crews were called to a residence in the 1100 block of North University Avenue at 7:20 p.m. and arrived five minutes later to find the house heavily involved, the department said. Two residents had safely exited the house, and no one else was inside, they reported. The fire was brought under control within minutes of arrival, the department said, and crews stayed on the scene until 9:41 p.m.

Four engines, a ladder truck, 21 firefighters and three chief officers and an inspector responded to the scene. The department said no smoke detectors were found in the home, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday morning. An estimate of the damage was unavailable.
