DECATUR — Decatur crews extinguished a fire in the 400 block of West Division Street early Thursday morning, and no injuries were reported.

In a news release, the Decatur Fire Department said the fire was reported at 2:23 a.m. "Heavy fire" was visible on the front of the house when firefighters arrived. People in a home directly west of the burning residence were evacuated for safety, the fire department said.

The fire was quickly controlled and extinguished at 2:48 a.m. Crews remained on scene until 5:26 a.m. completing overhaul efforts, the fire department said.

No injuries were reported, and the fire remained under investigation, the fire department said.
