DECATUR— A warehouse at the ADM West Plant in Decatur was on fire around 10:30 p.m. Monday, causing about $100,000 in damage and no injuries, the Decatur Fire Department said.
Crews from the department arrived to the scene, 3615 E. Faries Parkway, at 10:38 p.m. and advanced a line into the warehouse to begin extinguishing the fire, a press release said.
"Dozens of smoldering pallets" were taken from the warehouse, and the building was ventilated, according to the fire department.
The fire was controlled by 12:34 a.m. Tuesday and is under investigation.
In response for a request for comment, ADM spokeswoman Jackie Anderson issued the following statement: "Last night at approximately 8:30 p.m., a fire broke out in a storage warehouse near ADM’s Stratus soybean oil processing facility in Decatur. Employees quickly evacuated the facility and called the Decatur fire department for assistance. The fire was contained quickly, and no one was injured. We are investigating the cause and the extent of the damage."
