DECATUR — Police on Monday said a 44-year-old man was injured after his motorcycle collided with a Cadillac Escalade SUV at the intersection of East Grand Avenue and North Clinton Street.
Lt. Shannon Seal said first responders were called to the scene at about 3:40 p.m. An investigation showed that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Grand as the SUV headed southbound on Clinton.
The SUV turned left to head eastbound on Grand, Seal said, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with a leg injury, Seal said. She said the SUV driver, a 21-year-old woman, drove herself to a hospital to be examined after the crash.
Seal said the SUV driver was also cited for driving on a suspended license and failing to yield while turning left.
The Decatur Fire Department and Decatur Ambulance Service responded to the crash with police. Seal said Grand Avenue was closed for about two hours as first responders worked the scene.
