DECATUR — The Illinois State Police, Decatur Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff's Office recently teamed up for a pair of Roadside Safety Checks that led to a total of seven citations related to drugs or alcohol, the state police said in a news release.

Overnight June 22, police were stationed at westbound East Pershing Road (Illinois 121) and North Brett Avenue. Police cited one driver for driving under the influence and issued five other alcohol/drug citations. Written warnings or citations were issued for occupant restraint (8), registration (1), driver's license (15) and insurance (12).

Police were at North Water (U.S. Business 51) and East King streets overnight July 8. One alcohol/drug citation was issued, none for DUI. Written warnings or citations were issued for occupant restraint (1), registration (4), driver's license (21) and insurance (5).

The Roadside Safety Check projects were funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
