SHELBYVILLE — Three people were hospitalized, including a 58-year-old Shelbyville woman who suffered life-threatening injuries, in a three-vehicle Shelby County crash Friday night, according to the Illinois State Police.
Police said the woman was traveling west at 8:30 p.m. on Illinois 16 about four-tenths of a mile west of County Road 2550E, which is east of Shelbyville.
Police said she crossed the center line and hit the front driver's side of an eastbound minivan driven by a 60-year-old Windsor man before striking the front end of an SUV driven by a 53-year-old Effingham man.
The Shelbhville woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The Effingham man and a 51-year-old female passenger suffered serious but not lift-threatening injuries and also were taken to an area hospital, police said. The Windsor man and his two passengers, ages 15 and 17, did not report any injuries, police said.
The Shelbyville woman was cited for improper lane usage, police said, and everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seat belt.
