DECATUR — Anthony Gaston and Renee Green had one mission for the area.
“We are trying to bring back fun to Decatur,” Gaston said.
The co-owners will open the doors at noon today for the new Escape Decatur Escape Room, 985 W Pershing Rd., Unit G4.
Cost per person is $25 with an introductory $5 discount during the first three months.
Guests must sign a waiver before they begin the game. All age and physical abilities welcome.
“But nothing will hold them back,” Gaston said.
On opening day, visitors will have the opportunity to escape from two rooms.
The Room, which allows up to 12 people, is based on mystery television shows with clues, hints and puzzles and a twist. The Cabin, fit for six to eight people, is a hiding place from the spooky woods, but has its own mysteries.
Currently under construction, The Lab, for six to eight people, is a government laboratory with the anecdote to a deadly virus and an eager bad guy ready to sell it if you can’t escape with it.
The staff offers team-building exercises for business, schools and other organizations as well as birthday parties and bachelor parties. The owners allow groups to bring food. Escape Decatur is closed on Monday and Tuesday for team building reservations.
The business also includes a children's area where kids can play while their parents tackle an escape room.
Guests are allowed to escape from multiple rooms or just one.
“Most groups decide what they can do,” Gaston said.
