DECATUR – The Good Samaritan Inn is in the running for a $25,000 grant from the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program. It is the only Decatur organization in the running for the grant. 

Promise Council, a project of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Bloomington-Normal, is also among the top 40. 

The insurance company is awarding funding to 40 organizations that receive the most votes at neighborhoodassist.com. Voting ends at 10:59 p.m. on Friday. Click here to vote directly for Good Samaritan Inn.  

Good Samaritan Inn, founded 35 years ago, provides food assistance. The grant would be used for Mercy Programs, the organization's job training program that teaches horticulture and culinary skills.

The group was listed at number 34 as of Wednesday.
