The following water restricts take effect Thursday.
n The withdrawal of water from Lake Decatur is prohibited except for use by the city of Decatur and Archer Daniels-Midland Co. water treatment facilities.
n The use of water to maintain lawns, landscape grass, golf course grass, athletic field grass, trees and shrubs is prohibited. This does not apply for water used to maintain vegetation inventories at commercial gardening, landscaping and plant nursery facilities.
n The use of water to maintain vegetable gardens is allowed only if the water is poured from a bucket that is 5 gallons in volume or less on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
n Outdoor and indoor water fountains may not be operated. Drinking fountains are exempt from this regulation.
n Water may not be used to wash or clean streets, driveways, sidewalks, parking lots and all other paved surfaces. Construction sites are exempt from this regulation.
n The use of water to fill outdoor swimming pools, outdoor hot tubs and ponds is prohibited, but topping off outdoor swimming pools and outdoor hot tubs is allowed.

n The use of water to wash vehicles is prohibited except for the maintenance of public health and safety. Car and truck washes, detailing facilities and motor vehicle sales facilities are not exempt from this regulation.
n Restaurants may not serve water unless the customer requests it.
n The Decatur Bulk Water Station will be closed.
n Detectable water leaks must be repaired within 72 hours of discovery. If the leak is not repaired in this time frame, then the leaking water service may be shut off by the Water Services Division.
