DECATUR — Macon County Coroner Michael Day has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing Sunday morning as Tobby J. Buhs, 22, of Decatur. 

Buhs was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. Sunday in the Decatur Memorial Hospital emergency room from what appeared to be stabbing trauma, Day said in a statement. An autopsy is set for today at McLean County Coroner’s Morgue, Bloomington.

Decatur police are investigating the death, which they said took place after the man was stabbed on the city's north side.  

A news release from Lt. Brian Cleary of the Decatur Police Department said officers were called at 1:30 a.m. to a parking lot at 1080 East Mound Road in reference to a possible stabbing victim. Police said the man was found by officers and medical units suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the initial investigation showed the man was stabbed on the parking lot at Woodmound Plaza at East Mound and North Woodford Street. Police said the stabbing appeared to be the result of an altercation at that location. Police said detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene., but at this time no arrests have been made.

Police said no additional information about this homicide investigation was available Sunday morning. Police had initially identified the victim as 23 years old.
