Police: Report of child in stolen vehicle in Central Illinois was a hoax

  • 0

FARMINGTON — The report of a stolen vehicle that led authorities to issue an Amber Alert on Saturday was fabricated, according to Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell.

Police issued the update shortly after 10:30 p.m., saying no child was in danger. The Illinois State Police have a suspect in custody and are continuing to investigate.

Earlier on Saturday, authorities issued an urgent Amber Alert, saying a vehicle with an infant in the back seat had been stolen from the Circle K gas station in Farmington.
