DECATUR -- Donald Dean Aubert, 78, of Decatur, IL passed away at his residence, peacefully, with his family by his side on December 7, 2018.
Don was born February 8, 1940, the son of William Leslie and Hazel Mae (Gereau) Aubert. He married Marlene Gentry on June 2, 1967 in Decatur, IL.
He was a veteran of the US Navy. After his military service, Don worked for the railroad and later became a flooring installer for Carpenter’s Union #270 and Gentry’s Carpet Service.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and one of his greatest hobbies was making memories with his grandchildren. Don was the most kind-hearted and forgiving man. He was a father figure to many and could make a friend anywhere he went. He was very dearly loved by all of his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene; children, Robin Leighton (Mark) of Forsyth, IL, Rodney Goss (Kim) of Sullivan, IL, Brian Aubert (Andrea) of Decatur, IL, Mitch Aubert of Cerro Gordo, IL; siblings, Les Aubert (Patty) of Mt. Zion, IL, Clive Aubert of Springfield, IL, twin brother, Ron Aubert (Betty) of Dalton City, IL, Beverly Lollie (Billy Jo) of Weatherford, TX, Linda Cummins of Decatur, IL, Billie Clifton of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Chance, Kylie, Joshua, Josh, Brandon, Nathan, Trevor, Marissa, Makenzie and two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Dominick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and Larry Aubert.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL. Burial will be at a later date at North Fork Cemetery.
