DECATUR -- Dortha Jean Juliuson, 83, of Arcadia, FL, passed away at home, in her sleep, on March 28, 2019. She was born on December 23, 1935 in Avon, IL, to Mr. and Mrs. Horace Orville Harper & Gayle Francis (Kreider) Harper. After a short stint in Iowa, she grew up in rural Cuba, Illinois and graduated from Cuba High School. She married Perry Otto Victor “Vic” Juliusson on April 25, 1953. From this union they had three living children, Victor Mark, Pamela Dawn, and Michelle Denise.
In Decatur, Illinois, Jean worked as an administrative secretary, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, in their laboratory department, for 42 years. She had lived in or around the Clinton, Illinois area for many years; and after retiring, lived full time in Arcadia, FL, since 2000.
Jean enjoyed numerous hobbies; doing crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, sewing, and spending time with her family, and extended family. She will be dearly missed as the matriarch of her family, and by all those who knew, and loved her.
Jean is survived by her sister, Jane (Ken) Reneau of Lewistown, IL; her daughters, Pam (Rodney) Rogers of Clinton, IL and Michelle Juliusson of Arcadia, FL; nine grandchildren, Robyn (Brian) Writz, Cain (Becky) Smith, Derek (Ashley) Rogers, Alex (Jenny) Rogers, Kirsten (Josh) Arellano, Logan Le Beau, Mattie (Josh) Dubson, Luke (Ashley) Le Beau, Kate Rogers, and a blended family of fourteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Larry K. and Gary L. Harper, her son, Victor Mark Juliusson, her former husband/companion Vic Juliusson, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, Dylan Rogers.
As per her request, she was cremated. A graveside memorial in Clinton, Illinois, will be on June 15, 2019 at 10 am. in Woodlawn Cemetery’s, Memorial Park, Clinton, Illinois.
