DECATUR -- Melody Evetta, 67, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully at her home, December 2, 2018.
Melody was born February 28, 1951 in Pekin, IL, the daughter of Vernie Shallenburger and Adda (Robertson) Juhl.
Melody had served as a customer service representative for Humana Health Care. Bus Driver for District 61 and was a Rhema Bible School Graduate. She was a member of Resurrection Life Church. During her leisure time she enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, gardening and painting. She found time to be an avid reader. Melody also held a deep admiration with observing wildlife.
Surviving are her step-mother Alice Juhl of Pekin, IL; children, Heidi Peters (Ken) of Louisville, KY; Honz Cartee (Alyssa) of Decatur, IL, Christopher Cartee of Decatur, IL, Clint Cartee (Margie) of Kelly, IA, Mary Ancheta (Zaldy) of Virginia Beach, VA; stepson, John Tackett of Louisville, KY; Tonya Mears (Kent) of Mt. Zion, IL, Malora Lowery (Jim) of Mt. Zion, IL; brother, John Shallenburger (Debbie) of Creve Couer, IL; step sisters, Frankie Freeman (Bob) of South Perkin, IL; Ramona Howard of Pekin, IL; and Regina Martin (John) of Pekin, IL; 23 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her biological parents, step father, Everett Juhl and stepmother, Doris Shallenberger, brother, Gary Shallenberger.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Wednesday at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery.
