DECATUR -- Janet M. Findley 58, of Decatur, IL passed away at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Little Peoples Prep School or the Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church. Janet was born March 16, 1960, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Bill and Irene (Cook) Sumpter. She worked as a pre-school teacher for Little Peoples Prep School and formerly for Hillside Bethel Christian Schools. She married Delbert R. Findley on March 18, 1978. She was a member of Mt. Zion Assembly of God. She enjoyed spending time with family and her passion for caring for children.
Surviving are her husband: Delbert of Decatur; daughters: Tara Pipes (Shad) of Mary Esther, FL, and Amber Hunter (Dustin) of Argenta, IL; son: Matt Findley of Decatur; mother-in-law: Mary Findley of Mt. Zion; sister: Carol Root (John) of Decatur; grandchildren: Ronin Hunter, Rhianna Hunter, Rayden Hunter, Rauri Hunter, and Aspen Pipes; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
