DECATUR -- Victor Duane Ford 70, of Arcola, IL formerly of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:50 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018, in the Arcola Healthcare Center.
A memorial service to honor Victor’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon until service time. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honors team. Memorials may be directed to Arcola Healthcare. Victor was born July 11, 1948, in Macon County, IL the son of Eugene and Nina (Lehman) Ford. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School and was involved in track and field. During his time in high school Victor held the state record for running the mile. He attended Eastern Illinois University. Victor served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. While in the army he trained service dogs and was classified as an expert marksman.
Surviving are his sisters: Peggy Henson (Bill) of Paducah, KY, Frances Basil (Richard), Bonnie Parker-Chatham, Becky Sunderland (Paul) and Penny Dukeman (Doug) all of Decatur; special cousin: Chris Ford of Dripping Springs, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
