MONTICELLO -- Charles A. ‘Red’ Gadbury, 89, of Monticello, passed away at 6:17 p.m., September 7, 2018 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
‘Red’ was born June 8, 1929 in Willow Branch Township, IL the son of Hugh I. and Louise (Fulk) Gadbury. He married Phyllis A. Hiltabrand on July 6, 1973 in Decatur, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gadbury of Lovington; children, Brent Gadbury of Evansville, IN, Rick Gadbury of Champaign, Caryl Armstrong (Neill) of Winter Park, FL, Jodi Beckhart (John) of Monticello, Scott Gadbury (Tami) of White Heath and stepdaughter, Kathy Adkisson (Steve) of Hammond; grandchildren, Kristyn, Stephen, Jonathan, Jessica, Victoria, Christina, and step-grandchildren Kirk and Emma; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Gadbury, sister Ilene Gasser, and stepson Steven Dick.
‘Red’ retired from Clifford Jacobs in Champaign and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Decatur.
Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Graceland Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur.
