DECATUR -- Laura F. Isaacs 83, of Decatur, IL passed away at 10:48 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in Fair Havens Christian Home.

A service celebrating Laura’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 18, 2019, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m., Monday, in Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, IL. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Christian Church. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at

Laura was born December 27, 1935, in Farmer City, IL the daughter of Elman and Lou Ree (King) Rittenhouse. Laura retired as a bookkeeper for Drs. Hubble, Taylor, and Warchol, ophthalmologist’s office. She married Arlen Isaacs on September 7, 1958. Laura was a charter member of the Taylorville Christian Church and a charter member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church. She was a pianist for both churches.

Laura also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was involved in making quilts for missions at the church. She enjoyed traveling to many areas along with her husband after their retirement.

Surviving are her husband Arlen of Decatur; son: Mark Isaacs of Decatur; daughters: Cheryl Ellegood of St. Louis, MO and Anita Ricker (Jon) of Decatur; grandchildren: Ben Ellegood (Dorie) of Mt. Zion, Ryan Ricker of Decatur and Andrea Ricker of Decatur; brothers: Bill Rittenhouse (Shirley) of Farmer City, IL and Glen Rittenhouse (Rita) of Pekin, IL; sisters: Martha Gillespie (Ed) of Dekalb, IL and Nancy Baker (John) of Clinton, IL; sister-in-law: Jenny Rittenhouse of Clinton, IL.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Raymond and Thomas Rittenhouse and her sister: Irene Oakley.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the spiritual staff and nurses of St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as, the staff of Fair Havens Christian Home for all their care and compassion.
