DALTON CITY — James Allen Dennis, 69, of Dalton City, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in his home with his family by his side.
Jim was born February 3, 1950 in Decatur, the son of Joseph “Russell” and Mary (Rogers) Dennis. He was a truck driver for fifty years operating all different kinds of trucks and trailers. He surpassed the million mile mark without an accident. Jim was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, NRA, and OOIDA and enjoyed fishing. Most of all he loved his family and the farm, especially his grandkids and his special Bubby Evan. He married Karen Patrick May 25, 1985.
Jim is survived by his wife Karen, son Dustin Dennis and wife Jennifer, sister Sally Dennis, and grandchildren Kaili, Autumn, Danica, and Evan.Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
Services to celebrate Jim's life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Riverside Baptist Church, 1250 W. Mound Rd. Decatur, with Pastor TJ Hahn officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Riverside Baptist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or the Ronald McDonald House.
