DECATUR -- Jerry A. Maxwell 70, of Decatur, IL passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 8:55 a.m. in St. Mary’s Hospital.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Jerry was born July 13, 1948, in Decatur, IL the son of Harley P. and Patricia E. Maxwell Jr. He attended Lakeview High School and went on to serve in the US Navy on the USS Forrestal. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. He married Nancy Wiley and later married Debbie Wells. He went on to marry Pamela J. (Boudell) Anglin on January 25, 2004. He retired at age 51 from the Laborers Local #159 having worked for Melvin Lingafelter. He had formerly worked for the N & W Railroad. Jerry enjoyed watching and feeding birds and rabbits in the afternoons in his backyard. He loved playing sports, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears and enjoyed playing on his computer.

Surviving are his wife: Pamela of Decatur; children: Tina Leigh (Danny) of Washington, IN, Jason Maxwell of Taylorville, Melissa Mackiewicz (Justin) of Champaign, and Amanda Burger (Drew) of Decatur; step-daughter: Stephanie Anglin of Decatur; mother-in-law: Ginny Munson; sisters-in-law: Vicki Clark and Christina Hobson; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Dylan, Matthew, Harper, Delaney, Isaiah, Amelie, and Jaylyn; many friends whom he cherished deeply including special friends: David Stern and Dennis Gregurich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Richard and Bruce.
