DECATUR -- John Eldon Madding, 73, of Decatur, IL passed away October 10, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.
John was born September 2, 1946 in Decatur, IL, the son of Eldon and Roberta (Morris) Madding.
John married Claudia Flemming on April 4, 1979 in Decatur, IL. He was a veteran of the US Army. He served with the 385th Battalion as an MP from 1965 to 1967. Following his military service, John worked for Caterpillar, Inc. and served as a supervisor. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife Claudia; children, Heather Capobianco (Brian) of Tampa, FL, Bryan Madding (Jennifer) of Elmhurst, IL, Collin Madding (Brittany) of Forsyth, IL; brothers, Jerry Madding (Judy) of Oakley, IL, Galen Madding (Kay) of Fort Myers, FL; sister, Susan Albro (Larry) of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren, Dominic Capobianco, Ava Capobianco, John James Madding, Alexander Madding, Bennett Madding, Mabel Madding, Henry Madding and Eldon Madding.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jonathan Madding and one sister, Shelvia Jeanne.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
