DECATUR — Melva Mae Garrett 84, of Decatur, IL passed away at 7:23 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019, in her residence.

Melva was born March 16, 1935, in Fayette County, IL the daughter of Cyril Delmar and Cara (Blalock) Beesley. She married George R. Garrett on November 20, 1965. She had formerly worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Surviving are her husband: George of Decatur, IL; daughter: Andrea Parish of Findlay, IL; sister: Norma Van Rheeden of Mountain Home, AR; grandchildren: Brandon Parish, Dillon Walker, Gregory Walker, Emily Henderson, and Cheyenne Walker; great-grandchildren: Christopher Henderson and Emmeline Parish; special friends: Amanda Porter, Kahlan Porter, and Nathan Stanley.
Melva was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
