DECATUR -- Edna Louise Parker (née Page) passed from this world into the next on June 7, 2018 at her home in Houston, Texas. Alongside Edna during her final moments were her eldest son, Lawrence Gregory Parker, and her daughter-in-law, Pamela Parker.
She was preceded in death (on August 4, 2004) by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert James Parker, who was born in Decatur on November 25, 1925.
Edna was also born in Decatur, on February 20, 1920, the daughter of James Delbert and Ruth Irene Jones Page. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother to five children, grandmother to 14, great-grandmother to 11, and great-great-grandmother to 11 more recent arrivals.
Both her parents preceded her in death, as did her siblings, Esther May Coyle, Florence Erma Phillips, Charles Joseph Page, and Celia Ann Martinez.
In addition to her son Larry, Edna’s surviving children include her daughters, Jayne Kay Vale and Judith Gay Carrancho, and her youngest son, James Douglas Parker. Another son, Lance Page Parker, preceded her in death in 2016.
She will be missed more than she could know—a genuinely happy and loving woman who loved to play bridge, travel, and sing silly songs to her dogs, Marcie, Jake, and Jocko.
Her most significant and lasting mark upon the world flowed from her gracious presence and thoughtful, devoted concern for her husband, family, and friends.
Graveside interment services for both Edna and Bob Parker will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at Graceland-Fairlawn Cemetery.
