LATHAM — Shirley Louise Butterfield Rager, 87, of Latham, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
Shirley was born April 7, 1932 in Mount. Auburn, the daughter of Walter Buchanan Butterfield and Freda Francis Elder.
Surviving are her two sons, Bruce Rager and Carl Rager, both of Latham; two grandchildren, Frank Rager and Kate Rager, both of Latham; loved one and partner in life Dwight Buckner of Latham; her brother, John Butterfield of Moroa; four nieces, Kari (Rick) Livesay; Sheryl Erskine; Carol and Kathy Lawton; three nephews, Larry (Teresea) Probist; Ron (Kathy) Rigg; Richard (Mary Lou) Rigg; a special nephew, Chad.

Shirley was a member of Latham United Methodist Church, where she served on the board of directors. She was a member of Logan County Home Mackers Extension Club and Macon County Home Extension Club. She served as an Election Judge and Township Auditor for Laenna Township.She was a past member of Theatre 7 and Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a member of Lady Land Owners Association. Past Secretary at CC Rager Grain Co and part owner.She married Carl Rager May 20, 1951. He preceded her in death January 21, 1989.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers, John, Dean, and Ralph; her sisters, Virginia and Helen.
A private graveside will held at a later date in Two Mile Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Latham United Methodist Church or to Latham Fire Department.Honoring Shirley's wishes, cremation services will be provided by the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2091 N.
