MOUNT ZION -- Kurt Alan Siewert, 66, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 8:35 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
A service to celebrate Kurt’s life will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 18, 2019, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery with military honors. Kurt was born June 27, 1952, in Rantoul, IL the son of Albert and Violet (Craig) Siewert. Kurt served his country in the US Army in Korea. He retired in 2006 from Caterpillar in Decatur, IL. Kurt was a member of the UAW Local #751. He had a passion for racing Drag Boats and belonged to the Kentucky Drag Boat Association (KDBA). He also was a Corvette enthusiast. Kurt enjoyed working in his yard and gardening with his wife. He married Barbara A. (Brooksher) Melton on November 9, 2006.
Surviving are his wife: Barbara of Mt. Zion, IL; son: Chad Siewert of Pawnee, IL; step-father: Elmer Christians of Thomasboro, IL; sister: Kary Phelps-Mann (Doug) of St. Anne, IL; step-brother: Bruce Busboom of Dewey, IL; niece: Jorgi Hughes (Mark) of Sheldon, IL.
Kurt was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one sister: Kathy.
