DECATUR -- Marian Webel 80, of Decatur passed away at 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Heritage Health in Mt. Zion, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
A memorial service to honor Marian’s life will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crosspointe Community Church (34 S. Marian was born December 7, 1937 in Blue Mound, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Lois (Zimmerman) Rice. Marian worked for 21 years as the secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, yard work, feeding the birds, volunteering for Meals On Wheels, and spending time with family and friends. Marian was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and a charter member of Crosspointe Community Church.
Surviving are Marian’s daughters: Lori (Brad) Shuler, Linda (Ken) Pipkins, of St. Charles, MO; and Lisa (Becky Marsh) Nesler of Chesterfield, MO; brothers: David (Sharon) Rice of Blue Mound; Lloyd Rice of Lafayette, CO; sister: Delores Rice Logue (Bill Koretke) of Decatur; grandchildren: Anna and Emma Shuler, Jack and Ada Pipkins, Lynn (Derek) Throneburg, Lisa (Brad) Shotts, and Andrew and Ben Nesler. Marian leaves her very loyal and dear friend of many years, Joyce Frazier. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, and her son-in-law Scott Nesler. The family would like to thank the staff at both Evergreen Senior living and Legacy Care, and Heritage Health Mt. Zion for their wonderful, compassionate care.
