What a week!
Herald & Review reporters, photographers and editors were busy last weekend covering Decatur Celebration.
We had lots of fun stories, including one about a fair food taste test by our staff. We also took part in the Razzle Dazzle Goodtimes Parade, where our talented photographer Clay Jackson captured a great photo of my middle daughter, Caden.
The parade is one of the highlights of the year for us.
Also part of our coverage were our two newest additions to the newsroom. Jeff Smudde has come on board as a photographer. And Garrett Karsten is our reporter.
Both are Illinois State University graduates who worked on The Vidette student newspaper.
The Herald & Review is looking for community members to become guest columnists.
Welcome to them.

I also want to send an invitation to our readers for a meet-up with Herald & Review sports writers.
You have free articles remaining.
We're talking sports coverage and fall football at the new location of Decatur Brew Works, 102 E. William St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Sports editor Justin Conn and staff writers Joey Wagner and Matthew Flaten will be on hand.
Hope to see you there.
Also this month, the Herald & Review is hosting seminars for the community about our e-edition and accessing our digital content. We'll show how to access photo galleries, video and all of our content that's updated throughout the day.
Sessions are on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. at the Decatur Public Library, 130 N. Franklin St.
