Mother's Day, to me, means my three daughters are very lucky to have a mom who understands and loves them more than they care to admit sometimes, but someday they will hope to be just like her.
Being Sue's husband means being in awe of her when she gets Anna to soccer/softball, hosts Claire's friends for a sleepover or helps Emma study algebra — all in one day.
Sue learned from her own mother, who raised two daughters and two sons.
Finally, my mother, who took me in as a foster baby and insisted on adopting me. I am here with my own family because of her, as are my sister and five brothers.
Mothers don't just raise children, they give the future a chance. I am blessed to have all three be part of my life.
