We commend Tony Reid for his excellent article on Boy Scout Troop 43’s 75th anniversary ("Gold star memory for sailor," Feb. 11). He is superb at his craft. The combination of the pictures and his narrative delivered the key message to persons unable to attend because of inclement weather or distance.
As a result, persons better know that scouting’s mission is to help boys and girls develop the tools for success in life through experiences that challenge them and build self-confidence. Persons have already come forth to pledge support for the Logan Stephen Palmer Leadership Success Program. We hope to have it operational in time for our 20th annual U.S. Flag Retirement Program on this Flag Day, June 14, 2019.
Your continuing efforts to tell positive stories keeps citizens aware of the generous and wholesome spirit behind all the good things that occur in our wider community. Thank you and the entire Herald & Review family for your time and effort in making Central Illinois a better place to live.
Kudos for a job well done.
