I am so tired of driving on Decatur streets and having to dodge all the potholes. As I’m sure most of the city residents are. The routes I travel the most I pretty much have them memorized and know where the potholes are, but when I go down a road I don’t use often I go slow and look for the potholes and pray I see them before it is too late.
I can’t help but wonder what the tax money that is assessed on the gas we buy is being used for. I thought it was to help maintain the infrastructure of the city, which would include the roads. And if that isn’t enough dollars, maybe some of the taxes from the gambling places could be used to maintain the roads.
I went online to the City of Decatur site to see what roadway projects are scheduled and I see nothing for 2019. Are there any plans for road work in 2019? I certainly hope so.
My husband and I drove to Danville a couple weeks ago and we both said how pleasant the roads were and wished Decatur had roads like that. I just hate it when a visitor to our town comments negatively on the condition of our roads. So sad.
But on a positive note, I want to thank for public works employees for the wonderful job they do in keeping the roads clear during the snow and ice. They do a wonderful job.
