Very much enjoyed your article on Decatur murals in the Sunday edition (Community Canvas," March 31). It is time for the DAAC and other civic organizations to join together and promote Decatur as the "Muralopolis" of Central Illinois.

This can be achieved with a few small actions that could have big payoff for Decatur. The murals are already here and are being expanded. What is needed is to have a sign placed adjacent to each mural giving information about the mural, the artist, and what the mural represents. Then develop a website that gives information about each mural, it's location and a map that would create a mural trail to allow people to easily find their way from one mural to another.

This would be something totally unique to Decatur that could be publicized and would help draw visitors here. This could lead to the creation of tourist support endeavors along with the murals to serve visitors.

The murals are here, so let's make it happen. Spread the word about Decatur, the "Muralopolis" of Central Illinois.
