National Nurses Week marks the birthday of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital would like to take the opportunity to thank and recognize our nurses who serve our patients each day with respect, care, competence and joy.
Nursing professionals are a valuable and instrumental part of our hospital. We appreciate our nurses for the excellent care they provide during each shift they work, 365 days a year. They are the heartbeat of hospitals. They are the women and men at the bedside caring for the well-being of not only their patients, and the patients’ families as well.
At St. Mary’s, the commitment to nursing is as strong as the hospital’s roots in the community. Founded in 1878 by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, St. Mary’s Hospital continues to provide outstanding care to every patient and this tradition of nursing care in the Decatur area is something to admire.
National Nurses Week was developed to raise awareness of the value of nursing as a profession and to help educate the community about the vital role nurses play in the health of the community. To help fulfill that purpose, please join us by thanking the wonderful nursing professionals who have positively impacted your life.
