As an attorney and practicing Catholic, my family and I call upon Bishop Paprocki to reveal to the public the names of all pedophile priests in the Springfield diocese since 1980. Bishop Paprocki must also disclose what transparent new procedures are being immediately implemented to protect our children and defrock these criminals.

In a recent letter to Catholic Times, the bishop asserts this history of predatory pedophilia is the result of many Catholics having rejected the church’s teachings on the sinfulness of contraception and homosexuality.

All the “we’re sorry”s over the many years is a sad commentary, as is the “We are working on it” response. The Pope finally gets it. Why doesn’t our bishop?

We also call upon the Illinois Attorney General and all county states attorneys to convene special grand juries to investigate the abuse and perennial cover ups. The Catholic church has never proven up to this task. Our Illinois Supreme Court Justice Ann Burke has called for an investigation by the civil authorities.

We shall see who stands for our children.
