As the 2020 census nears, Decatur has turned to extortion. About a week ago, in the Herald & Review, the city stated they would be annexing homeowners on the outskirts off city limits. Several homeowners have received a letter from the city stating, if the homeowner doesn’t annex to the city of Decatur, they will shut off their water. It’s all about a body count for the city so Decatur will receive more money for the census.
Most folks moved out of city limits for a reason, so most of us do not want to annex into Decatur. If my house receives one of these letters, it will just speed us up moving not only out of Decatur, but move to friendlier state.
