To the Decatur community:
As you may have heard, I will soon be leaving my role at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital. I will be returning to my home state of Louisiana where my parents, siblings, son and grandson still reside. I will also begin serving as the president and CEO at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, where I started my career as a radiologic technologist.
While I am looking forward to going home, it is with a heavy heart that I leave Decatur, HSHS and St. Mary’s. I feel honored and privileged to have served on behalf of Hospital Sisters for more than a decade. I feel as though I was given far more than I contributed to the HSHS ministries. I thank the sisters, other HSHS leaders and the community for believing in and supporting me throughout my time here. My hope is that in some small way, I have contributed toward the advancement of the mission of the Hospital Sisters in caring for those most vulnerable and building teams that embrace change, support collaboration, contribute meaningfully toward the journey to excellence for our patients and serve as a vessel that allows the charism of Hospital Sisters to spill over into the communities that we serve.
I cannot say enough about the community we serve, the St. Mary’s board, foundation, advisory council, medical staff, volunteers, leadership team and broader colleague base. St. Mary’s is blessed and supported in every way. Thank you for the opportunity to serve amongst some of the best in class. God bless you all.
Joan M. Coffman, FACHE
