Being asked to take the lead on a new project can be scary, and self-doubt can creep in. But don't let it take over.

The Pentagon announced that U.S. military personnel are no longer allowed to use ”geo-location capabilities” on personal or government devices, such as iPhones and fitness-tracking devices, during operational deployments and at the discretion of commanders any other time. An Aug. 3 memo indicated geo-location capabilities could expose personal information, locations, routines and numbers of Defense Department personnel, and “potentially create unintended security consequences and increased risk to the joint force and mission.” Operational areas are places where “military personnel are there for a very specific purpose or mission.”

Raymond Kuo, political scientist at Fordham University in New York:

A nearly 21 percent cut, or $4.7 billion, achieved in part by cutting land acquisition in the National Forest System, rural water infrastructure and statistical capabilities at the department. Trump also proposes reduced staff in county USDA offices, an idea that fell flat in Congress when President Barack Obama proposed a similar reduction.
