WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Millikin defense held strong Saturday against Carroll University, allowing just one fourth quarter touchdown in a 30-7 victory. It is the second CCIW road victory this season for the Big Blue.
Millikin held Carroll to 233 yards in total offense and the Big Blue special teams blocked a Pioneer field goal and two Carroll punts.
Millikin had a balanced offense gaining 386 total yards with 227 yards rushing and 159 yards passing.
The Big Blue got on the board in the second quarter when Cal Pohrte connected with Colton Lockwood on a 13-yard touchdown pass. A Ladavion Severado five-yard run made it a 12-0 lead at halftime.
Pohrte and Lockwood would connect again in the third quarter this time from nine yards out to make it 18-0. Severado had a 22-yard touchdown run on the opening play of the fourth quarter to make it 24-0.
Pohrte closed out the Millikin (3-2, 2-2 CCIW) scoring with a four-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.

Pohrte was 16-for-31 passing for 159 yards. Severado had 100 yards rushing on 28 carries followed by Richard Cosey with 91 yards on 15 carries. Leigh Nutall led the Millikin receivers with five catches for 58 yards.
Michael Johnson of Carroll (1-3, 0-3 CCIW) was 11-for-32 for 167 yards and one touchdown. Johnson connected with J.R. Muth from 31 yards out for the lone Pioneers score.
Jequan Harrell led the Millikin defense with six tackles including two tackles for a loss. Matt Brown had six stops, one tackle for the loss and the blocked field goal. David Jones had three tackles with two blocked punts.
Justin Kontny led Carroll with 12 tackles.
The Big Blue return home on Oct. 19 for a 6 p.m. kickoff against Carthage College.
