ROCK ISLAND — The Millikin men's basketball team fell two games out of the sixth and final spot in the CCIW Tournament with just two games left to play after Saturday's 78-56 loss to No. 4-ranked Augustana.
Millikin (10-12, 4-10 CCIW) fell behind early and could never climb back in against the Vikings (22-2, 14-1 CCIW), which claimed the conference title with the win.
Senior DaVante Harrell led Millikin with 12 points. Jordan Cunningham had a game high 12 rebounds along with six points.
The Vikings had five players score in double figures led by Chrishawn Orange with 12 and Brett Benning with 11.
Augustana 62, Millikin 53
Millikin (8-15, 4-10 CCIW) fell one game out of the sixth and final spot in the CCIW Tournament and into a three-way tie for seventh with just two games remaining in the regular season.
The game featured eight lead changes with eight ties. But the Vikings outscored the Big Blue 22-15 in the third quarter, building a nine point advantage that stood up.
Sophomore Jordan Hildebrand led Millikin with a career high 28 points. She grabbed 10 rebounds. Aubrey Magro added 10 points for the Big Blue.
Alexis Jones led the Vikings (13-11, 7-8) with 22 points and nine rebounds.
