MOWEAQUA — Before Connor Heaton and Central A&M play in the Class 1A state semifinals on Friday, Heaton was named All-State First Team on Thursday.

Heaton, the reigning Herald & Review Area Basketball Player of the Year, averages 19.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Raiders, who have won 21 consecutive games and are making their first appearance in the state Final Four.

Nokomis junior Carter Sabol was named honorable mention in Class 1A.

Shelbyville senior Malcolm Miller was named to the Class 2A All-State First Team. Miller led the Rams to a 24-5 record, averaging 27.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.9 rebounds for the Rams.

Teutopolis senior Dawson Smith was named to the second team, averaging 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists on a team that won a sectional championship.

Casey-Westfield's Luke Richards, Teutopolis' Clint Weber and St. Anthony's Jacob Dust were named honorable mention.
