SALEM — Charleston dropped a road non-conference game to Salem Friday night, 35-14.

The Trojans trailed 21-14 at half, but their offense went quite after halftime and the defense allowed two scoring drives.

Charleston’s scoring came on a 12-yard run by Cory Spour and a 6-yard run by Brayden Doyle.

The game was a rematch of two former Apollo members and the first meeting between them since 2016, Salem’s last year in the league. Charleston won that game 20-14 in overtime, the final victory before a 19-game losing streak that spanned two full seasons.

Charleston’s record dropped to 2-4 and 1-3 in the Apollo. The Trojans play the final three games of the season at home, with Mahomet-Seymour due up next.

Salem improved to 4-2.
