LAST MEETING: Central A&M won 36-14 in 2010.
LAST WEEK: Central A&M lost to Monticello, 36-0; Shelbyville lost to Maroa 40-0.
KEY PLAYERS: For Central A&M, Zack Ballinger, Sr., RB; Logan Long, Sr., OL/DL; Jason Pokalsey, Sr., RB/DB; Ryan Houser, Sr., RB/LB
For Shelbyville, Lucas Duckett, Jr., QB/LB; Tyler Hendryx, Jr., WR/DB; Elliott Smithson, Sr., OL/DL; Bart Kennell, So., OL/DL
KEYS TO THE GAME: There will be plenty of intrigue before this game even kicks off, with Central A&M heading to Shelbyville to face former head coach Mark Ramsey. Once the game starts, it will be a race to see which team will score its first points of the 2013 season after both were unceremoniously shut out in Week 1.
Central A&M is running a completely different offense this season under first-year head coach Nate Graham, and the Raiders couldn’t get their run-first scheme untracked against Monticello. But with Ballinger, Houser and Pokalsey in the backfield running behind the biggest line in the area, Central A&M has the pieces in place to put a successful run game together. Shelbyville is essentially starting fresh under Ramsey after the graduation of several skill position players. But the longer this young Rams team has under Ramsey and his 30-plus years of experience, the more Shelbyville will improve.
