MAROA — Maroa-Forsyth has hired two-time Herald & Review Macon County Player of the Year Mallory (Leggett) White as its new volleyball coach, according to a press release from athletic director Phil Applebee.

White, who was player of the year in 2005 and 2006, has been the Trojans' freshman coach the last two seasons. After playing at Maroa, where she recorded 1,385 kills in four years as a starter, White played in college at Illinois State. At ISU, White ended her career ranked third in digs (1,422) and fifth in kills (1,526) in school history.

"Mallory is everything we were looking for in a new coach," Applebee said in the statement. "As a Maroa-Forsyth alum, she understands the demands of the volleyball position and has the qualifications and energy to take the program to the next level."

White replaces Sarah Mason, who coached the Trojans for three seasons.
