MAROA — Sarah Mason spent the last six years as a vital part of the Maroa-Forsyth volleyball program.
First as a spectator watching her daughters Matti and Bailey, then as an assistant coach under Jamie McCool, to the last three years as head coach, Mason has been part of four regional titles and a sectional championship at Maroa.
But with her daughter Carly having finished her senior year, Mason announced her resignation at Monday's Maroa-Forsyth Board of Education meeting.
In a press release from Maroa-Forsyth athletic director Phil Applebee, he thanked Mason for her three years as head coach, during which Maroa went 90-21 with two regional titles.
"We are sad to see her leave, but we are excited for her to be able to watch her daughters compete at the Division I level and to be able to visit her other daughter who attends college out of state," Applebee said.
Carly will continue her playing career at Belmont in Nashville; Bailey plays at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Applebee said the administration will begin the search for a new coach immediately.
