CHAMPAIGN — Southern California graduate transfer Trevon Sidney announced Sunday on Twitter that he will continue his playing career at Illinois.

He announced his decision just a few days after Trojans teammate defensive end Oluwole Betiku announced he would transfer to Champaign.

Sidney, a 5-foot-11 170-pound slot receiver, caught seven passes for 104 yards last season. He will be able to play immediately in the fall and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He has battled injuries since joining USC as a four-star recruit, when he picked the Trojans over Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, UCLA and Washington. He redshirted as a freshman and had hip surgeries in 2016.
