CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois men's basketball got off to a fast start to beat Evansville 99-60 in the season opener Thursday at the State Farm Center.

Five different Illini scored in double figures, led by 19 from Aaron Jordan, 18 from Ayo Dosunmu and 16 from Andres Feliz.

Illinois hosts Georgetown on Tuesday.

Aaron Jordan hits fifth 3-pointer

Aaron Jordan is spearheading Illinois' 3-point assault on Evansville. Jordan hit his fifth of the game to give the Illini an 83-43 lead with 6:43 left. The Illini have hit 12 3-pointers.

Illini extend lead to 40

Andres Feliz extended the lead to 76-36 with 9:33 left in the game.

Andres Feliz goes on personal 5-0 run

Illinois has continued its strong offensive game in the second half. Junior Andres Feliz scored five straight points to extend the Illinois lead to 68-32 with 13:38 left in the game.

The Illini have five players in double figures, led by 16 from Aaron Jordan.

Giorgi Bezhanishvili, who battled foul trouble in the exhibition, picked up his first foul in the second half, immediately followed by a technical foul on Bezhanishvili.

Bezhanishvili has been a factor on both ends of the floor. He has seven points, 10 rebounds and an assist.

Illinois breaks game open for huge halftime lead

Illinois went on a 46-14 first-half run in 16:31 to open the flood gates on Evansville. The Purple Aces went more than 10 minutes without a made field goal.

Ayo Dosunmu has 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in his Illinois debut.

Aaron Jordan leads Illinois with 14 points, hitting 4-of-7 3-pointers. Trent Frazier has 10 points, Kipper Nichols has seven, Andres Feliz and Giorgi Bezhanishvili each have four points.

Bezhanishvili has 10 rebounds and closed out the first half with an alley oop dunk off a pass from Kipper Nichols.

Evansville has 15 turnovers and the Illini have 18 points on turnovers. 

Illinois went on three separate runs (10-0, 13-0, 12-0 ) where it scored in double figures and Evansville was held scoreless. 

Illini break it open, lead 47-17

Sparked by a run of seven consecutive Evansville turnovers, Illinois opened up a big lead. The Illini are on a 25-3 run.

Aaron Jordan has 14 points, Ayo Dosunmu has 12 points and Trent Frazier has 10 points.

Ayo triple keeps the run going

Illinois is in the middle of a 13-0 run after Ayo Dosunmu hit a 3-pointer. Aaron Jordan has eight of the 13, Ayo has three and Andres Feliz has two during the run.

Illinois leads 35-14 with 7:53 left in the first half.

Illinois senior Aaron Jordan high stepped after hitting a 3-pointer to score eight straight points in 37 seconds.

Three-guard lineup on the floor with Illini ahead

Trent Frazier, Ayo Dosunmu and Andres Feliz are on the floor for Illinois. The Illini have forced a pair of turnovers and Frazier hit a transition 3-pointer on a pass from Dosunmu.

Illinois leads 20-10 with 11:24 left in the first half.

Frazier leads all scorers with eight.

Illinois is on a 13-2 run.

Illinois leads 14-8 with 13:49 left in first half

Illinois picked up three points from two separate trips to the free-throw line. Andres Feliz hit a pair and Kipper Nichols split a pair.

Ayo Dosunmu got his first career points with an offensive rebound and putback.

Illinois leads 9-8 with 15:44 left in first half

Trent Frazier started off the 2018 season with an alley oop to Kipper Nichols. That pair has done all of the scoring for Illinois. Frazier has five points and Nichols has four points.

 Evansville big man Dainius Chatkevicius has been suspended for the first three games and will not play against the Illini. Chatkevicius would have presented a size challenge for the Illini.
