FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Millikin women's basketball coach Lori Kerans has been looking for a complete game from her team this season.

Saturday's victory over Lawrence University 70-38 at the Cruzin' Classic was pretty close.

"Coming off of a couple tough losses last week, I was really hopeful we could come down to Florida and take care of business and we definitely did that today," she said. "We had super balanced scoring as all 12 players that got in the game scored, which is exciting. And we had four in double figures."

The Big Blue was led by Devin Curry with 14 points. Cassie Somers and Haley Toohill each added 11. Emily Schultz scored 10 points.

Senior captain Sierra Birdsell came off the bench and had a team high seven rebounds.

Kenya Earl led Lawrence with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Millikin led 18-14 after the first quarter and built a 37-26 lead at the half.

The Big Blue broke the game open in the third quarter with a 21-7 run.

Millikin shot 50 percent from the field including hitting on 9 of 22 (41 percent) from 3-point range. The Big Blue held Lawrence to 25 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 42-29.

Kerans feels that a complete game is still out there for the Big Blue, but she is very happy with the team effort.

"I think we got ahead so early and I could play the bench so early, it was a complete team effort today," she said.  "But I don't think we have played a complete game yet."

Millikin improves to 4-5 while Lawrence falls to 2-8. The Big Blue face Eastern Connecticut State University on Sunday.

"Eastern Connecticut a very strong program and they advanced to the NCAA tournament last season. It's certainly going to take a complete game from us to beat them," Kerans said.
