Mattoon Rotary honors MHS September students of the month
Each month, the Mattoon Rotary Club honors two Mattoon High School seniors as Students of the Month during its monthly luncheon. Honorees are nominated by MHS faculty and staff for their exceptional academic achievement and outstanding citizenship.
The Students of the Month for September are Izzy Compton and Wyatt Stuckey.
Izzy Compton, daughter of Dan and Hannah Compton, serves as the Class of 2027 class president. She is an active leader in Lighthouse, Student Council, National Honor Society, B.I.O.N.I.C., Varsity Wavettes, and the MCUSD2 Curriculum Coordinate Committee. Outside of school, Izzy dances with the Mattoon Artistic Dance Company. Following graduation, she plans to earn a bachelor's degree in biology at a four-year university before pursuing a two-year accredited master's program to become a certified genetic counselor.
Wyatt Stuckey, whose guardian is Micki Overton-Hall, is an active member of FFA, FCA, and Lighthouse. After high school, Wyatt plans to begin his higher education journey at Lake Land College before transferring to Murray State University, with the ultimate goal of becoming an agricultural educator.
Mattoon High School is proud to celebrate Izzy and Wyatt for their accomplishments, leadership, and contributions to the school and community.
Congratulations to both on this well-deserved honor.
