Ben Frazier, program director at the Good Samaritan, has overseen the planting and growth of the mums. Frazier said the plan was for the mums to be in full bloom prior Saturday's sale. Looking on the bright side, he said the delay should mean more bloom time for their new owners. Colors include white, yellow, orange, red, pink and purple.

Splashes of color are starting to emerge among the hundreds of mums that fill an area set aside on the grounds of the First Church of the Nazarene in Decatur. The Mercy Mums will be sold from 2 to 5 .m. Saturday, Sept. 14, during the Harvest Festival to benefit the noon meal and Merch Gardens at The Good Samaritan Inn.
